ABout me

I grew up in Craig County, VA and have strong ties to the region, both in family and a general love of Appalachia. My first job was working at my mom's garden center and a lot of my interest in the outdoors stems from her. I have a love of hiking and gardening, and always love participating and assisting in ways I can bring these activities to the library setting.

It was my love for film however that led to my passion for preservation. After attending the first TCM Classic Film Festival at 15, and hearing the restoration endeavors and successes of finding or restoring lost film, I decided to go into preservation work. Throughout college I developed a love for the institutions that provided this work in general even outside film: Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums.

After receiving my undergraduate degree, I was a substitute teacher for two years at the middle/high school. This shaped my beginnings in instruction, and gave me time to volunteer at a public library in my time off. It was at the beginning of 2019 that I got my first library job as part-time tech services assistant, before being promoted to Acquisitions coordinator 5 months later as I started my first semester of graduate school.
